Archeoparc

The Archeopark is located at Unser Frau in the Schnals Valley and is designed to give visitors an idea of how people lived 5,000 years ago. The museum includes clear explanation boards, pictures, films and exhibits from the Early Stone Age, a reconstruction of a pre-historic dwelling outside, bread-baking, archery and ceramic work demonstrations and shows visitors how to make a flint and work leather. There is a good view of the Tisenjoch, the place where Ötzi was found, from just outside the building.

Churburg Castle

This magnificent castle dates back to the year 1200 although the interior is in predominately Renaissance-style. It houses Europe’s largest collection of weapons and armoury and has been owned by the noble Counts von Trapp, whose family tree decorates the walls of the inner, arched portico walk, since 1504.

Botanic gardens of Trauttmansdorff Castle

These gardens are a real "must" for all visitors to the Meran area. They are splendidly laid out and are home to plants from all over the world as well as others more traditionally associated with South Tyrol. Paths meander through water gardens, flower-covered terraces, a Garden of Senses, a Japanese garden, an arid cactus garden and typically Mediterranean olive groves and grape vineyards.

Tyrol Castle Bird Sanctuary

The aim of this sanctuary is to give a home to injured birds and look after them until they can be released into the wild once more. A great chance to see demonstrations featuring birds of prey and to learn more about their role in nature. The centre houses something like fifty birds at any one time, the majority of which are birds of prey.

The Alpin Bob in Meran 2000 is located 1900 m above sea level in the hiking arena over Meran. Meran 2000’s Alpine Bob winds through the trees and over the mountain terrain for 1,1 km and is therefore the longest in Italy!
